I came across the idea of original patents as artwork some years ago. I’ve always been interested in history and inventions, but transforming patents into artwork didn’t spark an interest at first.
It wasn’t until I noticed what one or two other sellers were doing to bring them to life that I started to take it more seriously.
Then I did some experimenting of my own and was blown away by the results that could be achieved by cleaning up the originals and adding colourful backgrounds.
Of course, the process is a bit more complicated than that, but I’ve now become a bit obsessed with producing what I believe to be highly unique works of design art.
And when presented in digital form they provide an incredibly low cost way to make a real statement of style in any home or office. All it takes is a printer, some good quality photographic paper and an attractive frame.
I know because I have quite a few of them on my walls at home.
