The Chihuahua was introduced in early July 1997 as part of an umbrella campaign for Taco Bell, a chain owned by Tricon Global Restaurants. Only one of the four commercials in the campaign showed the Chihuahua, which was pursuing Taco Bell food and proclaiming, ”Yo quiero Taco Bell” (”I want Taco Bell”).Aug 7, 1998
